With the ever-increasing proliferation of smartphones and tablets in the consumer marketplace, it is more important than ever to tailor your web site design to reach as many mediums as possible. For our own website, we wanted to design a website that was visually appealing and user-friendly across multiple screen sizes. With the use of responsive design and cusotmized framework powered by Windows Azure, we were able to create a clean and responsive website that our users can access on any device to get the information they need.

To create a new website, Taylor-Dunn did what most companies would do. They interviewed a number of providers, then contracted with an established firm to design and host their public-facing website, including E-commerce and dealer login components. Unfortunately, after the initial site was built and went live, the web design firm became increasingly unresponsive, and unable to produce timely updates or bug fixes. Looking for some assistance, Taylor-Dunn contacted CSG Pro and asked us to provide them with some options. Over the course of several months, we worked with Taylor-Dunn to understand the depth and workings of the sites. Our first step was to migrate the sites to a new and more stable host, which we followed by updating and improving the code for better performance. By being able to step into a confusing situation, and salvage the existing work that had been done, we were able to give Taylor-Dunn a stable and functional presence on the web and to save them thousands of dollars in the process.

Johnstone Supply is the top cooperative wholesale distributor of HVACR products in the country with 370 independently-owned stores and over $1.3 billion in sales. As a Cooperative, effective communications are important to Johnstone Supply. Work had previously been done to create the company’s main communication platform using SharePoint. It was time for a fresh look and an improvement in the search experience. Johnstone came to us for help in building a system that would achieve that. We evaluated their current intranet site, identified the challenges and concluded we needed to build a new site that would: • Make it easy to find relevant documents and intranet content with minimum effort • Improve the document publishing process • Organize and categorize links to make more user-friendly • Consolidate content make the design more attractive and consistent To solve the challenges, we designed and built a heavily customized SharePoint intranet application. To make documents easier to find, we tagged them with metadata including the category and archive date. We also built the new system, known as JEN, with homepage links in the header and the footer that were relevant and easy to see. These links led to all other content, so that JEN could be the portal to access all information. In addition, staff members were now able to search for documents right on the home page. The project was completed in December of 2011. The new design and navigation has made it significantly easier to find information and documents quickly, and has enhanced communications for the organization.
